The NIELIT
(National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology) Guwahati Tezpur Centre
is in operation w.e.f. 5th August’1998
in the name & style of CEDTI,
Tezpur, after signing of an MOU between Tezpur University & erstwhile
Dept. of Electronics, Govt. of India. The centre started its operations from
the Tezpur University campus at Na Paam near Tezpur. However, due to
operational difficulties, the location was later shifted to Law College
Campus, Tezpur and subsequently to the present hired campus at the 2nd Floor
of ICCW Building, NT Road, Near Kanaklata Civil Hospital, Tezpur.
As per decision of the Executive Committee meeting held
on 18-7-2002, the CEDTI, Tezpur was re-named as CEDTI, North East (Upper)
with area of operation extending to the states of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh,
Meghalaya and Sikkim with it’s administrative set up at Guwahati. In
December’2002 after the merger of all CEDTI’s with DOEACC Society (except
CEDTI Mohali), the centre was renamed as DOEACC Centre Guwahati/ Tezpur. In
view of new name
NIELIT (National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology), by
DOEACC Society on 10th October,2011, the centre name is renamed as
NIELIT Guwahati/Tezpur Centre.
The
NIELIT (National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology) Guwahati/ Tezpur
Centre has the following training facilities at the following locations in
Assam.
(1)
Guwahati Centre
– Administrative and Training facility for all courses.
(2)
Tezpur Centre
– Training facility for most courses.
(3)
Silchar Extension Centre
– Training facility for select courses (located
in a rented premise at Durga Sankar Lane near Gurucharan College, Silchar).
(4)
Udalguri Extension Centre
– Training facility for select courses (located
at Udalguri College, Udalguri in BTC area).
(5)
Tinsukia Extension Centre
– Training facility for select courses (located
at Womens College Tinsukia).
The
centre at present also have arrangements with a number of Colleges in Assam
namely (1) JB College Jorhat, (2) NN Saikia College, Titabar, (3) Nagaon
College, Nagaon, (4) Nagaon Girls College, Nagaon, (5) Bongaigaon College,
Bongaigaon, (6) Handique Girls College, Guwahati, where a Dept. of
Information Technology sponsored training program on
ITES-BPO is conducted for
women candidates.
A 1(one) year duration certificate course in
Bioinformatics known as CCBioInfo
is also conducted in 3(three) Colleges in Assam namely, (1) Digboi College,
Digboi, (2) Arya Vidyapith College, Guwahati, & (3) Tinsukia College,
Tinsukia. This course is taken by under graduate life science/ chemistry
back ground students along with their formal degree course.
A 6(six) months duration certificate course in
Information Technology known as
CISC (Certification of Information Science in Colleges) is also
conducted in, (1) Nalbari Commerce College, Nalbari, Assam. This course is
taken by under graduate students along with their formal degree course.
